How Does The ION Shower Head Work?

The ION Shower Head works similarly to the Chelation process*, which binds molecules, such as metals or minerals, and hold them tightly so they can be removed from the body. When the water comes out of the ION Shower Head, the chemicals, toxins, metals and minerals are bound with water molecules, held tightly and render them harmless to our body and skin.

The ION Shower Head contains 2 types of porous, micro-active ceramic filtration system, which consists of smaller ceramic beads and larger ones.

In the dechlorination of water, chlorine (gas) is reduced to chloride (mineral) by the addition of electrons. The use of the ceramics helps reduce contaminants and maintain a good ORP level (ORP stands for Oxidation-Reduction Potential. In practical terms, it is a measurement to oxidize contaminants- meaning to "steal" electrons from other substances -that makes them good water sanitizers).

Chlorine is a gas that is utilized in water treatment processes as Cl2 (g), which dissolves into water to form hyprolysis products of Cl2 (aq). The ceramic beads inside the shower head break the chlorine in the water into a chloride ion with the process below:

Chlorine Cl2 + 2e (gained electrons from the ceramic) => 2Cl-

Sodium Hypochlorite 2NaClO + 2e (gained electrons from the ceramic) => 2Na+2Cl+O2

Chemicals, such as chlorine and sodium hypochlorite, gain an electron from the ceramic to produce a chloride ion. When the water comes out from the shower head, the chloride ion attracts water molecules and renders the chlorine and sodium hypochlorite harmless to our body and skin.
